Dragon boating began over 2000 years ago in China. After a well-loved man drowned, fishermen got in boats, and paddled out to throw dumplings for his spirit. They splashed oars and beat drums to keep fish and water dragons away. Today, dragon boating is still a spectacle. Races are full of high energy and good spirits. Dragon boaters honour the spirit by coming together and working as a team for a common goal.
